Random Thoughts

 Data is important? How much.

 may be it was never before.

 Why ?

A thought came to my mind , in advance of big data where I can imagine the near future ?

Well, may be we can tell our future ?

We generate data every time we do any activity for most of the times. Make calls ,  whom I am calling , how much time I am calling , from and to where I am calling , or in facebook  , what is my mood today , the type of picture or videos I share ,like or comment can be analyzed to find  my general interest, the key words I am passing in my comments and status , major life events , where I am eating, what am I eating , how much I am earning , how much I am spending , what I am buying from online stores , which products I am interested in , what Google searches I am making , again related to general interests. Or how much interested am I  in reading news or major events going on, where I am going for vacation may not be with makemytrip , but we all these days do some surfing before we go to some new place ,at least share some picture with captions in facebook or twitter.

That’s one hand , the other like the ADHAR  card project by UIDAI data of our palm  can be captured .

Like length, width, the pattern of the various lines of our hand can be saved. And then can technology be pushed to the limit , to  analyze the pattern of the line and group people.The granularity of the data can be in micro or nano level and study the generated data by those persons  throughout his life  , how much they had education, how much they earn, how are they? Happy ?? irritated?  Friendly , hostile , harmful ? What they like ? sweet ? spice ? how much they like to eat ? how much  the spend on  productive and unproductive things like watching movie, going to clubs? What assets they own? How much they travels ? what are the kind of places they like? Hills, jungles?  Beaches? With friends or family ? and specially what are the major life events happened in their life ?  early marriage ? divorce? How many kids ? when major illness happen (we generate that data  also when we pay online at hospitals or download prescription or medical reports!!!) ,how was the rate of increase in their wealth? Sources of income single or multiple? Hard working focused to single job or talented and multidirectional ? their ideology ,political social , moral ,religious ,  does they make donation? Are they likely to get inclined to any extreme ideologies after any major life events , are they vocal about change or mere spectator?

And then can my hand pattern to find, in which group do I belong? The science of Palmistry ..
Thought I am  totally unaware how it goes , did some quick search  and stumbled upon this in wiki

The basic framework for "Classical" palmistry (the most widely taught and practiced tradition) is rooted in Greek mythology. Each area of the palm and fingers is related to a god or goddess, and the features of that area indicate the nature of the corresponding aspect of the subject.

The basic is to  identify  pattern related to some common traits , cuts ,marks ,color , length, bumps,lines and finger prints of  human and relating to some habits, events ,liking , life events that happened or  going to happen in life . and the big thing is its going to supported by data !!!!.

The analysis may be not 100% correct , but always there is a scope for improvement  because we will go on and generate more data in future for testing the predictions, or narrowing down the group by generating data .

Can man become god to predict future and take corrective actions , prove the law of nature wrong . or the science of astrology , palmistry is going to fail and will remain as some lucky guess based on individual senses..

And then a second thought,   are we people going to an emotional creature or rational , robotic and results driven. we most of the time look for completing some goals,  good or bad, love some one , hate some one , will we try  to do a quick search that  this action to achieve this particular  goal was helpful for how many people? What percentage of success?

What is the future  of democracy ? will laws be written with ill motives to support particulars and special ones ? will these rule bring in change ? what was the experience last time.  does the voice of crores be taken into account who are vocal ,placing their ideology firm and strong or the power of  ministers and parliament be the last one.   Does the govt have data to show the public support of their actions ?

Its really mindboggling!!!

The reason there are so many Question marks is that, most of the answers are not know to me.

Is  there going to be such an agreement between truth and human beings to  shun all ego ,share our activities  online, to help us, help others ,to target only those tasks and activities which are beneficial to me and specially all, because we can do a search like what percentage of people  were hanged after they threw a bomb in public, killed a child or rape some one, what happened to his wife, sister, mother later after he was put in to jail ,and how many people would have like to  abuse him the same way they had did, what did their masters did ? did they fulfilled their promises after the man was killed?

Can technology reach to that height in processing capabilities  , cheap storage and computing power and expose the data to public?

Can big data successfully challenge GOD and emotions , analyze data from such diverse sources , find relation and apply artificial intelligence  successfully . Because  data will  be of extreme details, and find relation between action and intention and correct results  from them will not be easy .
